SODIUM CHLORIDE 0.9% INFUSION

Principal Salt in Maintaining the Osmotic of Blood and Tissue

- Plasma isotonic fluid replacement in fluid loss or isotonic dehydration conditions
- Treatment in cases of hypovolemic shock
- Can be mixed with other I.V solutions and pharmaceuticals products
- Plastic bottle has double sterile holes with a protective aluminum cover which can be used for infusion and or drug additives
COMPOSITION :
Sodium Chloride 0.9% Infusion, each 500 ml contains :
Sodium Chloride 4.5 g
Water for Injection ad 500 ml

Osmolarity : 308 mOsm/l.
Na+ : 154 mEq/l
Cl- : 154 mEq/l

PHARMACOLOGY :
Sodium Chloride 0.9% Infusion is a clear solution, colorless, sterile and non pyrogen is available in 500 ml plastic bottle.

Sodium Chloride 0.9% Infusion contains Sodium Chloride 9 g per litre. This is comparable with 154 mMol Sodium Chloride. With osmotic pressure 308 mOsm/l. Sodium Chloride 0.9% Infusion is an isotonic fluid that can be used as starters for fluid resuscitation in dehydration and shock patients. 1 litre of Sodium Chloride 0.9% Infusion will increase the blood vessels volume of 200 ml, while 800 ml will move into the interstitial. Thus the dehydration shock, hypovolemic shock and bleeding, Sodium Chloride 0.9% Infusion can be given as an alternative.

Sodium is a major component of the extracellular cations and determinants of blood plasma osmotic pressure. Chloride is the major anion in the blood plasma. So the state of fluid loss/isotonic dehydration, in vomiting where Chloride come out a lot from body, substitute solution is required such as Sodium Chloride 0.9% Infusion.

Sodium Chloride is the principal salt involved in maintaining the osmotic of the blood and tissue, changes in Sodium and Chloride levels change this osmotic tension and hence influence the movement of fluida and diffusion of salts in cellular tissue.

INDICATIONS :
- Generally, to resolve Sodium ions and Chloride ions deficiency in the blood, for example, the state of dehydration and others.
- As a medicament solvent for parenteral use.
- Plasma isotonic fluid replacement.
- Hypochloremic alkalosis.
